In the current day and age, a pivotal point of discussion has been the globe’s pressured fight against global warming. This application has been designed for when that strange light pops up on the dashboard and instead of losing an entire day, the client can simply take out their cell phone and get to the bottom of things.

PEUGEOT 208 is SA’s most-loved car

Reigning the 2021 South African Car of the Year (COTY) brand, PEUGEOT has attracted the most love from the country’s motorists in the 2022 competition. The PEUGEOT 208 claimed Motor Enthusiast’s Choice as judged by the volume of public interest.

The award was announced this morning as part of the South African Guild of Mobility Journalists (SAGMJ) social media takeover.

The PEUGEOT 208 beat out 24 other finalists in the prestigious competition to attract the most votes from the public. The accolade comes on the heels of the 208’s outgoing COTY winner, the PEUGEOT 2008 SUV.

Peugeot South Africa has introduced its updated 3008 to the market. Here’s the pricing and specification details for this stylish newcomer.

The Peugeot 3008 has been a popular model globally with impressive sales performance, particularly in the European market. A few have been sold in South Africa and it bagged a few #CarsAwards-powered by WesBank nominations.

For the 2021 model which has been facelifted, Peugeot has tweaked the design, introduced the latest-gen driving assistants, and given its cabin a revised look. Visually, you can spot the new model with its striking new grille, with the GT model gaining an enhanced version of this grille. The headlights have been updated too and these now include LED technology as well as hook-shaped Daytime Running Lights with chrome tips.

The flagship GT model gets full LED headlamps which turn as the vehicle changes direction at speeds of up to 90 kph. There’s even a fog mode built into the headlamps. The rear of the vehicle features LED tail lamps and sequential indicators. The Peugeot 3008 GT model features 19-inch aluminium alloys.

There are new colours available for the South African market, and customers can select from 7 shades. The updated Peugeot 3008 features a new 10-inch touchscreen on the interior. The 12.3-inch digital dashboard has been tweaked to provide better readability and contrasts. There are new trim levels, with customers being able to opt for red Nappa leather over the standard black Nappa leather. There are also new trim finishes.

There’s just one engine available across the 3-derivative range. The 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol motor punches out 121 kW and 240 Nm. There’s just one gearbox on offer, a 6-speed automatic transmission. Peugeot claims a 0-100 kph of just 8.9 seconds and it’s said to consume just 7 L/100 km on the combined cycle.

Peugeot 9X8 Le Mans Hypercar revealed with groundbreaking design

Peugeot has released the first images of its World Endurance Championship racing car but hasn’t yet confirmed when it’ll make its competitive debut.

The French brand posted the first image of the 9X8 on track on its social media channels, and it appeared to be sporting a small rear wing. It’s not yet confirmed whether the car will race with or without rear aerodynamics. However, the latest set of images once again show it without a wing, and this is believed to be the direction the programme is heading in.

The 9X8 is a successor to both the 905 of the early ’90s and 908 of the late ’00s, both of which won at Le Mans. Peugeot has yet to confirm exactly when the car will make its competitive debut but has now said it won’t be in Florida for the curtain-raising 1,000 Miles of Sebring on 18 March. Beyond that, the only official word from the manufacturer is that the pair of 9X8s “will make their maiden race appearance in the course of the season”.

Under the bodywork, the 9X8 is powered by a rear-mounted, 2.6-litre, twin-turbo, 671bhp petrol V6 engine, combined with a front-mounted 268bhp electric motor and a seven-speed sequential gearbox. Peugeot’s Hypercar driving squad, which was announced in late 2020, consists of Paul di Resta, Loic Duval, Mikkel Jensen, Kevin Magnussen, Gustavo Menezes, and Jean-Eric Vergne, with James Rossiter serving as reserve and simulator driver.

Peugeot has entered the SA bakkie market with its all-new Landtrek double cab, a one-tonner available in two variants – the Allure 4×2 and the 4Action 4×4.

Peugeot Landtrek is available in three body shapes, such as single-cab, double-cab, and chassis cab, catering to both the workhorse and lifestyle sectors. It also has a payload capacity of 1.2 tons and a towing capacity of 3.5 tons. Depending on the derivative, the ground clearance ranges from 214mm to 235mm.

The interior of the Landtrek is impressive, offering a 10-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 10GB hard drive. There is a 360-degree camera system (up to four cameras can be fitted) and dual-zone climate control included in the standard specification. The standard kit also includes a total of six airbags, electronic stability control, lane departure warning, trailer swing control, and hill descent control.

The backrest can be folded down in a 60:40 split, and the buyer can choose between two individual front seats (with armrests) or a three-seat multiflex bench. Therefore, the Landtrek can accommodate up to 6 passengers depending on the derivative. The cabin offers a total space of 27 litres for storage.
